MDO Plywood, which stands for Medium Density Overlay Plywood, is a type of plywood made from a resin-impregnated paper layer with an exterior-grade veneer. It is designed to be used for outdoor signage, furniture, and other woodworking applications.

Wood signs should have a minimum thickness of at least 1/2? MDO Plywood or 3/4? plywood. The thicker the wood, the sturdier the sign will be. Thicker signs tend to stand up to outside elements better, but are much heavier and could limit its applications.

Our wood signs are finished with an exterior grade paint or sealant to protect them against the elements. A primer is also used before applying the paint to make sure the paint adheres better to the wood and has a longer life span.

Yes, with the proper finish, our wood signs are made weatherproof. By using an exterior paint or sealant, our MDO wood signs are effectively protected from moisture and other elements.

The size of the sign will depend on the application. For outdoor signs, a 4'x8' piece of 1/2? MDO Plywood is the standard size. For indoor signs, a smaller piece of wood, such as a 3'x4', may be more appropriate.

Wood signs can be hung with screws, nails, or mounting brackets on 4"x4" posts or other surfaces.

The cost of making a wood sign depends on the size and options chosen.

When properly cared for and maintained, wood signs can last for many years. The finish and type of wood will also determine the sign's lifespan.
